Sizes, and the number the spec table buries

Casper publishes two sets of measurements per size, and the difference between them is the most useful thing on the page. The full bed is the outer footprint including the bolsters. The inner sleep area is the flat part your dog lies on. On the Large, sold For dogs up to 90 lbs., the full bed is 45 by 35 inches but the inner sleep area is 35 by 25 inches, and it is 3.5 inches deep. That 3.5 inch figure is identical on the Small and the Medium. A 90 lb dog therefore gets exactly as much foam under it as a 12 lb one; what the bigger sizes buy is floor area, not support depth.

Measure your dog stretched out, not curled, and compare against the inner sleep area rather than the full bed. A 60 lb dog that sprawls will overhang a 25 by 17 inch sleeping surface even though the Medium is sold for it. If your dog is heavy, elderly or has been diagnosed with joint disease, ask your veterinarian what sleeping surface helps, and note that 3.5 inches is at the shallow end of what thick-foam beds offer: beds built around a 7 inch stack, Big Barker among them, are the relevant comparison, and we cover that one next.

What it is made of

Casper publishes its materials plainly, which is more than most bed makers do: Bed: 2-Layer Foam Construction with Visco Elastic Memory Foam and Polyurethane Support Foam. Cover: Nylon, Polyester, and Olefin (product page, read August 11, 2026). Visco elastic is the technical name for memory foam, so the stack is memory foam over support foam, the standard construction. The cover is the part the marketing pushes hardest, and the claims are mechanical rather than medical: Durable and washable cover with a little extra material to dig into, described elsewhere on the page as one of the strongest bonded microfibers available. Care is simple and published: Wash the cover in cold water with a gentle cycle, and tumble dry on low. Two things Casper does not publish: a foam density or ILD figure, which is what would let you compare its support against another bed numerically, and any certification for either the foam or the textile. More on that below. The bed also arrives flat-packed: the page states Some Assembly Required.

The warranty, and what it excludes

The full text is published, which is worth crediting, and it is short enough to read before buying. The cover: Your new Casper Dog Bed, and any replacement covers you may purchase for your Dog Bed (each a "Dog Mattress Cover"), are covered by a 1 year limited warranty, against Defects due to faulty workmanship or materials, with the remedy being at Casper's option, to provide a replacement Dog Bed, or Dog Mattress Cover (Casper warranty page, read August 11, 2026). Now the exclusions, which are the part that matters for an animal's bed. The warranty does not cover Normal wear and tear as a result of washing and intended use., Comfort preference., or Physical abuse or damage to the Dog Mattress or Dog Mattress Cover, including but not limited to, burns, cuts, tears, liquid damage, or stains. It also excludes commercial use and anything bought from an unauthorised reseller, and it is not transferable: original purchaser only, receipt required. Read plainly: a dog that digs a hole in the cover, chews a corner or has an accident on it is outside the warranty, and so is a cover that wears out from being washed as instructed. That is not unusual for the category. It does mean the one-year term covers manufacturing faults and very little of what actually ends dog beds.

Two return policies that disagree

Casper publishes two different answers about returning this product, and a buyer should know both. The product page's own shipping block says: You can return your Casper item and get a full refund within 30 days of delivery or within 30 days of an in-store purchase, provided the merchandise is unused and in its original packaging and condition. Unused would mean you cannot let the dog try it. But Casper's trial page lists the Dog Bed under a 30-night trial with the opposite instruction: Sleep on it, lounge on it, drool on it — if your pup doesn't love the dog bed, we'll give you a full refund. The more specific statement is the trial page's, and it is the one that favours the buyer, but the two are published at the same time and contradict each other. If the trial matters to your purchase, get the terms confirmed in writing before you order, and keep the packaging either way.

What the review base says

The product page displayed an overall rating of 4.3 out of 5 from about 3,185 reviews on August 11, 2026. Two caveats attach to that number and neither is small. It is hosted on the maker's own store, not an independent retailer, and the same block is headed by an AI Generated Review Summary rather than raw reviewer text. We counted no review-text patterns for this page, so it reports none.

Paper trail · what exists and what does not

No US licence, registration or certification regime covers dog beds, so nothing about this product is approved by anyone, and no maker in this category can honestly claim otherwise. The federal flammability rules people sometimes cite do not reach it either: 16 CFR 1632 and 1633 define mattresses in human-sleep terms (16 CFR 1632.1 · 1633.1). What can be compared is what each maker chooses to publish, and here the record is mixed. Casper publishes its materials, its dimensions per size, its weight guidance and its full warranty text, which is more paperwork than most of its competitors offer. It publishes no foam or textile certification at all: we searched the product page for CertiPUR-US, OEKO-TEX, GREENGUARD and the word "certified" on August 11, 2026 and found none of them. That is a documented absence, not a fault, because nothing obliges a bed maker to certify anything; it simply means the phrase Pressure-relieving memory foam on this page is the company's description of its own product and is not backed by an outside certificate. Compare with the PetFusion, where a CertiPUR-US claim exists but could not be found in the certifier's own directory.

Which size for my dog? Compare your dog stretched out against the inner sleep area, not the full bed: 19 by 12 in on the Small, 25 by 17 in on the Medium, 35 by 25 in on the Large (read August 11, 2026). Casper's own weight guidance is up to 30, 60 and 90 lbs respectively.

Is it an orthopedic bed? "Orthopedic" is an unregulated marketing word and Casper does not lean on it here. The measurable fact is the sleeping depth, 3.5 inches on all three sizes. For a dog with diagnosed joint disease, ask your veterinarian what surface helps before spending on any bed.

Can I wash it? The cover is removable and machine washable in cold water on a gentle cycle, tumble dry low, per the maker's care instructions. Note that wear from washing is explicitly outside the warranty.

Is it chew-proof? No bed is, and Casper makes no such claim. The warranty specifically excludes tears and liquid damage, so a destructive chewer is not the buyer for this product.

Is the foam certified? Not as far as its own page shows. We found no CertiPUR-US, OEKO-TEX or GREENGUARD claim on it on August 11, 2026. No rule requires one for a dog bed.
