A cat bed sold in one size, on one promise: the paperwork is actually there. Dimensions, materials, washing rules and a warranty you can read without a lawyer. Every fact below was read live on August 12, 2026.

One size, and the weight guidance that wobbles

The Nest comes in one size: Overall size 17.5″W x 17.5″D x 5.75″H. (product page, read August 12, 2026). It is a bowl, not a flat pad: the maker sells it as Comfy bowl shape with rounded sides for leaning against with a Wide lip for resting tired heads, and its own copy is explicit about the sleeping style it suits: Perfect for cats to curl up, lean on the round sides, or rest their chin on the lip. A cat that sleeps stretched out rather than curled is not the buyer.

The weight guidance is one sentence, and it contains its own wobble. The published number is Best for cats and small dogs up to about 17 pounds, which then continues, in the same sentence: but we have many happy customers with 20-pound cats curling up inside! (product page, read August 12, 2026). The first half is the guidance; the second is a customer anecdote the maker chose to print, not a rating, and the two do not say the same thing. If your cat is near or above 17 pounds, treat the fit as uncertain and measure your cat curled against a 17.5 inch bowl before ordering. There is no larger size to move up to: the product page lists exactly one size, and Hepper publishes no size chart because there is nothing to chart.

What it is made of

Hepper publishes its materials plainly: The rounded shell parts have a soft-touch construction; the fabric is laminated to both sides of the molded EVA foam shell. The liner fabric and the laminated fabric on the shells are all poly. and The interior cat bed liner is made of Sherpa fleece and is easy to remove and wash. (product page, read August 12, 2026). EVA is ethylene-vinyl acetate, a flexible molded foam, so the structure is a shaped foam bowl wrapped in fabric, with a separate fleece liner inside. Two things Hepper does not publish: any foam density or hardness figure, and any certification. We searched the product page, the warranty page and the returns page for CertiPUR-US, OEKO-TEX, GREENGUARD and the word "certified" on August 12, 2026 and found none of them. That is a documented absence, not a fault: nothing obliges a bed maker to certify anything. It does mean every comfort phrase on the page, like soft, wraparound support, is the company's description of its own product with no outside certificate behind it.

The wash split · one part easy, one part not

This is the bluntest fact on the page, so it comes with the maker's own words. The liner is the easy part: Machine wash with cold water on a gentle cycle, and dry at low temperature. The shell is not machine washable at all: Do not put any of the molded parts into a washing machine. and Air dry the cat bed only. (all care quotes from the product page, read August 12, 2026). The most the maker offers for a deeper clean of the shell is spot cleaning with warm water and a very mild soap solution, or cold-water sink-washing with a bit of detergent, because the parts flex enough to fit in a sink; elsewhere the page adds that The fabric covered Nest bottom can be spot cleaned or rinsed out in the tub.

Read plainly: if a cat has an accident or brings something in that soaks through the liner, the part underneath can only be spot-cleaned or rinsed by hand, and Hepper publishes no waterproof claim for the liner or the shell. The machine-washable headline applies to one component of a two-component bed. If accidents are the reason you are buying a bed, that limitation belongs in the decision.

Six months, behind a two-year banner

The site's banners say Free two years warranty extension, and the product page's own feature strip repeats it: Warranty Protection · Free 2-year extension. The warranty page itself is clearer about the structure. The base term: Hepper offers a 6-month warranty on Hepper-branded hardware products and accessories that come in the original packaging, covering any defects in materials or workmanship when the product is used according to Hepper's guidelines, starting from the date of the original retail purchase by the end-user. The extension: Extend your Warranty to TWO (2) YEARS for Free by registering your product. The remedy: If we find the problem to be from defects in materials or manufacturing, we'll promptly refund or replace the item. (all quotes from the Hepper warranty page, read August 12, 2026).

Three honest notes on that text. First, the headline two years is real but conditional: it requires a registration step, and a buyer who skips it holds a 6-month warranty, so register at purchase. Second, the warranty's own scope phrase is hardware products and accessories, and it never names the Nest Bed; the Nest's own product page advertises the extension, which is the signal that the bed is covered, but the pairing is something to be aware of rather than a document you can wave. Third, Hepper publishes no exclusion list at all: unlike some bed warranties, nothing here carves out chewing, washing or stains in writing, which cuts both ways, since there is also nothing written to lean on. Claims are made by email with photos and the order number.

Returns sit beside the warranty: Hepper accepts returns of products purchased at Hepper.com or Amazon.com within 30 days of your order delivery date. (returns page, read August 12, 2026). The returns page adds that after 30 days they are reasonable about working something out by email; that is goodwill language, not a term.

What the review base says

The product page displayed 5 out of 5 stars based on 118 reviews on August 12, 2026, with the star split shown as 99 percent five-star and 1 percent four-star; the page's structured data carries the same figure as 4.99. Three caveats attach. It is hosted on the maker's own store, not an independent retailer. A distribution that is 99 percent top marks tells you the median opinion, and very little about the failure modes, which is what a buyer is looking for in reviews. And we counted no review-text patterns for this page, so it reports none.

Paper trail · what exists and what does not

No US licence, registration or certification regime covers cat beds, so nothing about this product is approved by anyone, and no maker in this category can honestly claim otherwise. The federal flammability rules people sometimes cite do not reach it either: 16 CFR 1632.1 defines a mattress as intended or promoted for sleeping upon with an inclusion list made up entirely of human mattresses, and 16 CFR 1633.1 applies to mattress sets under the same human-sleep definition in 1633.2 (16 CFR 1632.1 · 1633.1 · 1633.2, read via the LII mirrors on August 12, 2026; ecfr.gov blocks non-browser fetchers). What can be compared is what each maker chooses to publish, and Hepper publishes a reasonable set: dimensions, materials, care instructions, weight guidance, a readable warranty and a returns policy. It publishes no foam or textile certification of any kind, and because it claims none, the CertiPUR-US directory check this site runs on makers that do claim certification has nothing to bite on here: the absence stands as dated fact. For contrast, the Casper Dog Bed likewise publishes no certification, while the PetFusion carries a CertiPUR-US claim that could not be found in the certifier's own directory.

Is the foam certified? Not as far as Hepper's own pages show. We found no CertiPUR-US, OEKO-TEX or GREENGUARD claim on the product, warranty or returns pages on August 12, 2026. No rule requires one for a cat bed.

Is it only for cats? No. Hepper names both species on the product page: cats and small dogs, with the same about-17-pound guidance. This review is written for cats; if you are buying for a dog, the maker's guidance above is all that is published.

My cat has joint trouble. Is a nest bed the right surface? We cannot say, and neither can the product page. For a cat with diagnosed joint disease, ask your veterinarian what sleeping surface helps before spending on any bed.
